Vulcano Llaima climb

In the heart of the 180.000 acre National Park Conguillio, one of the most beautiful National Parks of Chile, lies the Volcano Llaima. This very active Vulcano Llaima, last errupted in 1994, is the goal of this tour. The Name "Llaima" has its origin in the Mapuche language and means "reborn". With clear skys you are able to enjoy an outstanding views from the Llaima summit over the Araucarian Region with its surrounding volcanos and mountains as well as countless lakes and rivers of southern Chile.

Requirements:

A special mountaineering experience is not required for the Volcano Llaima climb. To reach the summit you should be in good physical shape, you can be a novice to complete this climb which is approx. 8 hours there and back.

Getting there:

You will be picked up by the Land Rover Defender in Pucon or Villarrica and we will transport you to the Ski Centre "Las Araukarias" at the base of the Llaima Volcano. (other pickup locations can be arranged)

The Climb:

Our starting point for the climb is the Ski Centre "Las Araukarias". From there via the west face up to the Llaima Volcano main summit.

Equipment:

High Altitude Mountaineering Clothes with Mountaineering boots, crampons, ice-axe, helmet and sunglases with UV-Protection.
Rental equipment for the Llaima climb is available.
